Part-time Development Associate

Join us!

CCN’s Development Associate will manage internal and external operations related to an increased roster of clients. We seek a highly curious, engaged, detail-oriented team member who will oversee all CCN administration and operations, as well as handle the all-important Donor Prospect Research projects for all clients.

Position Description

This is a job for someone who is highly driven by a love for purpose-driven work. The Development Associate will keep CCN running smoothly and efficiently, and will power CCN’s informed, thoughtful prospect research, in order for us to help advance our clients’ vital missions and goals. There is room to grow in this role, with myriad opportunities to learn and develop.

Administration and Assistance

  • Scheduling Assistance for Principal (and Network Partners as needed)

  • Scheduling and attending weekly CCN team meetings, maintaining agenda and taking notes as needed for follow-up and deliverables

  • Managing the CCN team calendar and keeping the team informed of upcoming client meetings, changes to the calendar, or team member vacations/time off

  • Overseeing and maintaining CCN Google Drive, Slack channel, etc.

  • Managing and updating CCN templates and related materials

  • Managing and updating CCN website (clients; team members; roster of services, etc) as needed

  • Overseeing client intake forms, contracts, and other important client-related documents as needed

  • Scheduling, attending, and taking minutes in client meetings as needed

  • Scheduling any client-related travel for Principal (or Network Partners as needed)

  • Managing CCN subscriptions to publications (Chronicle of Philanthropy, NY Times) and services as needed.

Donor Prospect Research

As requested by Network Partners, and in collaboration with clients, the Development Associate will be asked to:

  • Populate and update (as needed) a Development Calendar for each CCN client, with a rigorous research, analysis, and recommendations on relevant Individual and Foundation Donor prospects that align with the client’s goals, milsion, and geographical region.

  • Provide informed Foundation Directory Online (FDO) Research on Foundations.

  • Wealth Reports will be the start of your research on any individual potential donor. You will learn how to “suss out” donors based on address, marital or family name, and other factors.

  • Create Donor Briefing Sheets on each individual prospect, starting with Wealth Reports and then going deeper. These sheets should indicate a potential supporter’s short biography; past giving history to other organizations; and possible personal connection to the client’s particular cause or mission. This is where the fun research challenge lies! We encourage the Development Associate to get creative, put on your Sherlock Holmes hat, and sleuth out interesting leads.

  • Donor Briefing Sheets and FDO reports, and all materials provided to clients, will always be branded with CCN logo and noted as prepared for the client by CCN.

Possible Additional Responsibilities

Depending on the client’s needs and terms of engagement, CCN may also ask the Development Associate to:

  • Schedule, attend, and take notes in Campaign Feasibility Study discovery meetings and interviews with key stakeholders.

  • Help CCN advise clients on Development Staff searches needed.

  • Help CCN advise clients regarding fundraising campaigns, letters, or other outreach materials

  • Help CCN Network Partners research, write, and send out Letters of Intent (LOIs) on clients’ behalf

  • Help CCN Network Partners research, write, and upload Foundation Grant materials
